Andrew Forsman – Cambridge

andrew-forsman-profile-2Andrew Forsman is a highly regarded horse trainer known for his strategic approach to racehorse ownership and training.

Andrew began his career under the tutelage of legendary Kiwi trainer Murray Baker and quickly forged his own reputation within the industry. In 2012 he became Murray’s co-trainer with the birth of Baker-Forsman Racing. Together they won four New Zealand Trainers’ Premierships and 24 Group 1 races, highlighted by champions Dundeel and Mongolian Khan.

In 2022 Andrew became a sole trainer and has continued the stable’s legacy. He consistently has one of the best strike rates in New Zealand and the stable has travelled horses to the major Australian carnivals with great success. His pick of career highlights is purchasing and training Aegon to win the G1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas and Hobartville Stakes in Australia and purchasing and training Jon Snow to win the G1 ATC Derby at Randwick. In 2024, he also had his first Melbourne Cup runner – Positivity.

In 2025 he hit the impressive milestone of 1,000 wins including G1 winners: Mongolian Khan, It’s a Dundeel, Turn Me Loose, Bonneval, Jon Snow, Aegon, The Chosen One, Quick Thinker, Mustang Valley, Lickety Split, Lizzie L’Amour, Nicoletta, Diademe, Saint Emilion, Quick Thinker, Vin de Dance, Madison County, Atlante, Charmont, True Enough, Sakhee’s Soldier, Stolen Dance and Dal Cielo.

Andrew lives in Cambridge with his wife, Sara, and two children, Maija and Hugo.
