Queenoftheamazon (trained by Stephen McKee) and Zanotti (trained by Stephen Marsh) are both outside chances in the Group 1 over 2400m in Trentham tomorrow.
Says Albert Bosma, “It’s the most prestigous race in New Zealand for three-old fillies and we feel they both deserve a place in the field.”
“Queenoftheamazon is by Savabeel so has good staying blood and will see out the distance but is probably 12 months away from really maturing. She won two starts ago coming from last and had a nice fifth over 2100 metres last start and has worked well since.”
“Zanotti is underrated. She’s already stakes-placed and ran 5th in the Group 3 Sunline Vase last start and was finding the line. We think she’ll see out the 2400 metres but she needs the predicted rain. If it comes she will come right into calculations.”
These two runners are part of possibly the biggest weekend to date for Go Racing with 11 runners over four meetings.
Albert also recommends North and South fresh up at Trentham tomorrow if it rains and, at the same meeting, two-year-old Passing Shot who’s had no luck so far.
Finally, Go Racing has its second starter in Singapore – Kauri Park – who debuts on Sunday night in a maiden race worth S$65,000. The 1000 metres will prove be too short of his best as he matures, but he is a talented horse and has the ability to run in the first three.
