He is a real stayer in the making and to win over 1600 metres was a bonus for him and particularly to do it in a nice time of 1.35 secs. He is a horse that has been plagued by wet tracks and wide draws and finally got conditions to suit at New Plymouth.
He quickens on a hard track wheras he finds this difficult to do when there is give in the track. It is also the first time in his career he has been able to sit handy to the pace with cover and take advantage of his position. He mounted a stayers run and was going as strongly on the line as he was at the 400 metres, which made us very happy.
He has come through that race well and is now likely to head to either the Rating 65 1600 metres at Hawkes Bay on the 21st of April or a 3yo 2000 metre race at Te Rapa on the 28th. Being a good track horse he will head to the spelling paddock as soon as the tracks turn, so he may only have a race or two left this season.
