Says Racing Manager Albert Bosma, “He was unlucky in the Karaka Million last month when a horse fell in front of him. This has been an opportunity to show everyone what we always believed – he has a lot of ability and is a top horse in the making. This colt will improve and we have always felt hw would be a better three-year-old than a two-year-old, so it is an exciting time for his owners.”
Prince Mambo will now head to the $200,000 Haunui Farm Group 1 Diamond Stakes over 1200 metres in two weeks’ time. This was the race won by Go Racing stable mate Ruud Awakening last year and the team are keen to defend their title. Following that, on 29 March, he will line up for the $225,000 Group 1 Oaks Stud Sires’ Produce at Manawatu over 1400 metres.
Prince Mambo is also the first Stakes placed progeny of Windsor Stud stallion, Thewayyouare.
Says Albert, “The stallion is doing a fabulous job. Promising Go Racing horse Lyric’s Way is also by him and will race on Saturday. We purchased a Thewayyouare x City Affair yearling at Karaka which has already completely sold out.”
