The Karaka Yearling Sale commence next Monday the 27th of January and runs for a week, concluding on Sunday the 2nd of February. I just love this week and there will be some great opportunities this year.
We have had fantastic success buying from the sale over the last few years and the key is to have done our homework, so you can buy well. We have inspected over 1100 yearlings and we will have most of our shortlist completed by this Friday the 24th of January.
It will be an interesting sale as the New Zealand dollar is very strong and this may have an impact on the buying power of some of the overseas purchasers. I also think there are more quality horses this year than there was in 2013. We will be looking to buy a range of horses from The Karaka Million winner, to Derby and Oaks horses and both colts and fillies. We will be looking to buy for our domestic trainers and also Chris Waller in Sydney and Melbourne; and Bruce Marsh in Singapore.
We will be putting out a daily sales report each morning after the sales with details on the horses we have purchased.
If you are interested in being involved in a horse and would like to go on this list then please let me know and I will put you on it.
Five of the horses we purchased last year were sold before the end of the sales, to those people on the list.
It is an exciting week ahead!
Kind regards
Albert
