Finally he gets to see a Melbourne Cup
He has always said he won’t go to the Melbourne Cup unless he has a runner on the day. Up until now he has never seen a Melbourne Cup live but that is all about to change tomorrow for Albert Bosma.

Tomorrow Albert along with the Dawn Almighty syndicate will have a day they will never forget when last seasons two year old of the year Ruud Awakening races in the Schweppes Flemington Fling over 1000 metres at Flemington on Melbourne cup day.

“Its been a race day I have always wanted to attend but after having stated that I would only go if I had a runner on the day, I had to be true to my word. I have had several opportunities to attend but to now have a runner on one of the biggest race days in the world is a huge thrill and something I have always dreamt of. I know Ruud Awakening will do us proud regardless of result and I cant wait for Tuesday to roll around” Albert stated.

And according to trainer Stephen Marsh Ruud Awakening is not just there to make up the numbers. “The horse has come through her last better than she has in any other run this campaign. She has had a few wee niggles this time in but she is now well and truly over these and is back to her old self. I couldn’t be happier with her and I am expecting a bold run”.

The Marsh family have a connection with the first Tuesday in November with Stephen’s father Bruce having ridden Silver Night to win the 1971 Melbourne Cup. Wouldn’t it be great for this connection to grow tomorrow if Stephen trains a winner on Melbourne Cup Day.
