2nd Round Knock Out For The Final Round

The Final Round delivered a knock out punch to his rivals at his second race day start at Hawkes Bay on Friday when winning decisively over 1400 metres.

After beginning well he led, then trailed. He was under a good hold coming to the turn and travelling easily, so Jonathon Riddell elected to bring him three wide rather than ride him for luck. He hit the front quickly on entering the straight and ran away to win by 2 1/4 lengths under a hands and heels ride.

The Final Round (Darci Brahma – Soleil Etoile) is a half brother to the fine Galloper Silky Red Boxer (Casual Lies) and hence his name. He has taken a little bit of time to get to the races as he had a few maturity issues, but the wait and patience showed by his owners is paying off now. He will next head to a special conditions maiden 1400 metres at Waikato on the 19th of May before probably heading for a winter spell. He looks a horse that will be at his best at 1600 to 2000 metres.
