She’ll be right

She’ll be right

Trainer Stephen Marsh lines up two promising Go Racing 4YO mares at Te Rapa on Thursday.

Daughter of Sacred Falls, She Speeds, named after the Straitjacket Fits classic,  will compete in the maiden fillies and mares 1200 metres.

Says Stephen, “Her campaign, like many others, has been affected by lockdowns. Her last race in Rotorua was back in March which was a creditable second placing with her refusing to flinch in the home straight against the very promising and short-priced favourite, Can I Get An Amen. She had a lovely trial for second last week where she did exactly what was asked of her and has come back more mature. The 1200 metres will be too short for her but she has a bit of class about her and this will help. She should be ready to race boldly fresh up and the good draw of 3 is a big assist.”

The stock of Sacred Falls seem to really appreciate a little bit of time and Go Racing is excited by his progeny in their stable. Says Racing Manger Albert Bosma, “Our three-year-old colt Gee Cee (Sacred Falls x  Smitten Kitten) – a full brother to Maktoum – has shown us plenty of ability and heart coming from last to finish third on Sunday and we also have a lot of time for another daughter of his, Waimoku Falls, who will step out for her debut shortly.”

The other Go Racing contender at Te Rapa is also a 4YO  “she”.

“She’s Apples is by El Roca out of Inara Belle, a half-sister to champion two-year-old and Go Racing alumni Ruud Awakening. She was named after a favourite expression of legendary Aussie jockey Hugh Bowman – which means she’s the business. She certainly was when winning last start and can go on with it,” says Albert.

Stephen reports She’s Apples has had a good week of track work and has improved since her break-through maiden win at just her 4th start. She will compete in the rating 65 fillies and mares 1400 metre race and also jumps from the lovely barrier of 3. Sam Weatherley, who rode her for the first time in her maiden win, retains the ride and will have good options where to place her from that draw.

Both races carry a Pearl Series Bonus of $11,500 which makes them an even more attractive option and she will definitely be right if they both win.
