Karaka yearlings getting ready to Go Racing

Go Racing held their annual yearling parade on Sunday to showcase their New Zealand Bloodstock yearling purchases.

Around 85 people inspected the yearlings, which are currently spelling at Haunui Farm, and enjoyed lunch and hospitality at the beautiful property.

“It was a great turnout and I think that reflects the success we are having and how we look after our owners.” Go Racing’s Albert Bosma said.

With a mix of first time and existing Go Racing owners in attendance, the day provided an opportunity for syndicate members to meet – both each other and their new horses.

“The parade is a great chance for people to make new connections and friendships,” Bosma said.

“It is also fun for us to be able to sit down with people and have a drink and a chat while we are surrounded by the horses but without the pressure that a raceday brings.”

14 yearlings were paraded before the crowd before owners were given the chance to have their photo taken with their horse.

“They all paraded well,” Bosma said. “They have all developed in the two weeks since the sale which tells us we are buying them at the right point. The sales process can be quite stressful for young horses and it is a lot for them to take in. I think they coped really well.”

Trainers Lisa Latta, Stephen Marsh and Stephen McKee were also at the parade to talk with owners and give their thoughts on the yearlings that would be joining their respective stables as they were paraded.

Bosma is pleased with how the Karaka purchases have been received and said shares were selling faster than last year.

“There has been a lot of interest across the board,” he said. “70% of the yearlings we bought have been sold and I think this is a great endorsement of our success and how much people enjoy being part of the Go Racing family.”
