Remuera’s race at Sale in Victoria tomorrow brings to a close a very successful season for Go Racing which included the highlight of Sentimental Miss winning the Group 1 NZ Oaks.
Remuera competes in a benchmark 64 1411 metres worth $35,000.
Racing Manager Albert Bosma is upbeat. “She’s got a good barrier draw (2) and Michael Walker is in the saddle who has ridden her most of her career so knows the horse well. But what we are really optimistic about is that she has finally got track conditions that suit.”
Remuera’s previous two races this campaign, where she ran third and fifth, were runs on heavy tracks which she does not like, so had plenty of merit. The Reliable Man filly, trained by Chris Waller, showed her class to perform admirably in those conditions.
Says Albert, “She is far more settled this campaign and should be able to relax in a handy position and show the good turn of foot she has.”
The Sale track is currently a soft five which is the equivalent of around a dead 4 in New Zealand. The weather forecast suggests it should stay in that range or could possibly get back to good 4.
“This will suit her much better and it would be great if she can win and see out the season for us on a high note.”
“We are also very much looking forward to the Australian pronunciation of her name which is anyone’s guess. Michael Walker’s te reo lesson to the Australian racing media hasn’t helped a bit.”
