Go Racing owners are hoping to take more money off the Aussies this weekend with two exciting runners.
Stephen Marsh-trained filly Campari competes on Saturday at Rosehill in a benchmark 78 1500 metres worth $125,000.
Racing Manager Albert Bosma is buoyant. “She’s having such a successful Aussie campaign with two wins and a fourth from just three starts. She was a brilliant winner last start breaking the class record over 1400 metres at Randwick.”
“She goes up in grade on Saturday but drops in weight to 54.5 kg and James McDonald is on board. She’s flying, he’s flying …it’s a really exciting combo.”
Sunday sees the welcome return of Alward running in the Listed Kilmore Cup A$150,000 over a mile.
“He last raced in the Group 1 Metropolitan. After which he caught a little cold and had to have a couple of weeks to recover and then rebuild his fitness. It’s been two months between races so he’s fresh up and we know he runs well in that condition – he ran third in the Rowley Mile fresh up.”
Trainer Chris Waller is really happy with how he has freshened up and he has a handy barrier draw of 4. Says Albert, “We think he can run a cheeky race over a distance a touch short of his best.”
Stephen Baster rides and Alward will wear blinkers for the first time, which should sharpen him up further.
