Rising star Eridani has been marked as one to watch by the Go Racing team.
Albert Bosma, Racing Manager, picked her out right from the start at the 2017 Karaka yearling sale. “She’s by Makfi and out of Gould and the spitting image of our Group 1 and Karaka Million champion Ruud Awakening so we just had to have her. She was purchased for a modest $85,000.”
Trainer Stephen Marsh was similarly taken with her at first sight and having had his career break through with Ruud Awakening, was keen to have her in his stable.
Easily and unsurprisingly unshackled of her maiden status last start, the three-year-old races tomorrow at Ruakaka in the rating 65, 1200 metres in just a seven horse field.
Says Stephen, “Eridani has come through her last race in terrific order and I couldn’t be happier with how bright she has been since that race.”
“It was an impressive effort at Waipa and after putting a couple of lengths on the opposition at the top of the straight, it actually turned-out to be a pretty soft win in the end. Great to have her maiden victory under her belt and we can now look forward to the rest of the current campaign.”
“If she wins at Ruakaka tomorrow and wins it well, we could then possibly lifting our sights and give her a chance to race for some black-type. At Ellerslie on the 8th of December there is the $70,000 Group 3 Bonecrusher Stakes over 1400 metres and this could be a good opportunity to pick up some valuable black-type.”
