Exuberant is the word for the Go Racing team on their Savabeel’s colt debut win in the 2YO Listed Wellesley Stakes.
Says Racing Manager Matt Allnutt, “We knew going into the race that it was a big step-up for Exuberant but he has shown what a talented and exciting colt he is. A total professional.”
Matt adds, “It was a great preparation from the Marsh Racing team who had him spot on first up and a super ride from Jason Waddell.”
Says trainer Stephen Marsh, “I’ve always had a big opinion of this boy and now a Stakes winner on debut – we couldn’t be happier. He’s come through the race well and has been given a few days in the paddock to allow him to recover from the race and the long float trip to Wellington. But to be honest he has taken it all in his stride.”
While there has been immediate interest in the colt from Hong Kong buyers, it is likely that Exuberant’s (out of O’Reilly mare Merrily) next race will be the $70,000 Group 3 Eclipse Stakes at Ellerslie on the 1st of January before taking on the $1 million Karaka Million in late January.
