Super line up for tomorrow
There’s plenty of action on the track to look forward to from the Go Racing stables tomorrow.
Racing Manager Matt Allnutt is excited to see the first of their crop of 2YOs hit the track when Savabeel colt Exuberant debuts in the Listed Wellesley Stakes over 1000 metres at Trentham worth $50,000.
“We were tossing up between either Ellerslie or Trentham for his debut but it came down to the draw – and he secured barrier 2 at Trentham. Obviously, the listed race is more attractive financially, but it will be a big trip for him down there and the challenge of a left-handed track. He’s also up against four individual winners and a lot of horses with form in the race. However he has always been a very forward colt from the get go so we think he can race well.” Jason Waddell rides.
Aristotle (Pins x Belle Diva) races in the 1600 metres Listed Zacinto Stakes at Riccarton worth $70,000 with Jacob Lowry to ride.
Says Matt “He’s a horse that we like but will be thrown in the deep end a bit - he’s a maidener in a Group 3. This will be the test whether he’s ready to go forward to the 2000 Guineas or needs a break and be re-set to target Stakes races early in the New Year.”
Trainer Andrew Carston is pleased with the draw. “He had a tough run last race at Riccarton where he was trapped wide. We scratched him from Wingatui due to another wide draw. He’s got a great draw here of barrier three and he’s been pretty full of himself in track work and has showed us great improvement.”
Finally over the ditch, Mark Two and Go Racing mate Raqeeq will both compete in the same race at Royal Randwick – a benchmark 78 2000 metres worth A$125,000, and have drawn alongside each other. Kiwi jockey Jason Collet is booked to ride Mark Two. “She has just thrived in Australia and the distance will suit. We expect her to be very competitive, but she will go even better at 2400 metres,” says Matt.
“Raqeeq finally gets a good draw. All that’s been beating him in recent races was getting too far back so he should be able to take advantage of barrier 4, sit handier and be a good winning chance.”
