Push Go for Hasabro

Three-year-old Savabeel colt Hasabro launched a blistering attack in his fresh up run on Aussie turf on the 1st of October at Geelong over 1755 metres race coming an unlucky second. After travelling sweetly he was held up in the straight, with Jockey Damian Lane adamant that if he’d got out at the top of the straight he would have won well.

“It’s just the start we wanted to see from him in this Aussie campaign and he was very unlucky not to take line honours,” says Go Racing Manager Albert Bomsa.

In his next start at Cranbourne on the 12th of October a ninth placing still had jockey Michael Walker upbeat. “He felt terrific but just badly needed blinkers to calm his nerves amongst the other runners. I’m not concerned with the placing and neither should the owners.”

It’s a vote of confidence in his ability that Michael sticks with him to contest the Geelong Classic on the 24th of October, a listed 2200 metres worth A$120,000.

Says trainer Stephen McKee, a veteran of successfully campaigning horses in Australia, “We are very happy with his work and the reports from both jockeys have been favourable. We are on the right track with him and we’ll let him tell us after the Geelong Classic whether we carry on to the Victoria Derby.”
