Rip Van Winkle three-year-old filly Rip into Ghia is looking for a little bit of luck to go her way in the Group 3 Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni on Saturday worth $70,000.
Central District’s leading trainer Lisa Latta has always had a big opinion of the horse. “She has shown plenty of ability in her track work but has been a work in progress to get her head in the game on race day. Blinkers have certainly helped sharpen her up and keep her focused.”
She’s due a bit of luck especially following a poor ride which cost her a win in her last start in the Stella Artois 1400 at New Plymouth on 1 December.
“This year, it’s only a small field of nine runners for the Eulogy Stakes, and with her last run indicating that she is looking for a mile, it is a good chance for her to race for some black type as a three-year-old. Her barrier draw of 7 doesn’t concern us and Leah Hemi will ride.”
The horse to beat is hot favourite – Volpe Veloce – which is unbeaten in four starts and a full sister to the Go Racing two-year old colt,Volpe Volante.
