Go Racing has broadened its offerings again to its owners importing an Irish stayer in partnership with leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller.
Chris has had considerable success with horses from the Horses in Training Sale at Newmarket, England. Last Saturday MCREERY (purchased last year) ran second in the Group One $1 million Emirates Stakes at Flemington. It was his sixth start in Australia this year, winning two stakes races.
Says Albert Bosma, “It’s exciting to be able to offer owners another racing experience. Northern hemisphere stayers are world class. We’ve done exceptionally well to buy Alward, a talented and progressive three-year-old with a super pedigree. Alward, will be initially aimed at city racing in Sydney which has minimum prizemoney of A$100,000 per race on a Saturday, and above that, at Group level.”
Alward has had seven starts for one win and three placings in France and has won £25,000 (over $40,000) to date.
His Sire AQLAAM (by Oasis Dream) was a top class, Group 1 winning progressive miler, that was also a Group 2 and 3 winner from just nine starts.
His dam Sharedah (by Pivotal) had two wins at 2000 metres and three placings from just six starts and is a half-sister to the absolute topliner MARAAHEEL who won seven Group races and over £1 million. She was placed in five Group 1 races, including the Juddmonte International which is the highest rated horse race in the world, and the Hong Kong Cup. She is also a half-sister to the Group placed Huja.
Sharedah has only had her first two foals to race so far.
Her first foal, Tawdeea, is a very interesting horse. He was sold at the same sale (horses in training) last year. At that time he had two placings but no wins in his career and had won £2000. In the last year, since that sale, he has had four wins and three placings from 11 starts and now has prize money of £100,000 (approximately NZ$170,000) including winning the £100,000 ($170,000) Newton Cup over 2400 metres this year. He has really gone on as a four-year-old and looks to be a very exciting stayer in the UK. Connections think he will be even better as a five-year-old next season.
His next race is in the November Cup at Doncaster worth £80,000 ($140,000) over 2400 metres.
Alward is just her second foal and has a much better record at the same age. See his pedigree here.
