Sitting on a hat trick from last season, Passing Shot is now Melbourne-bound.
An exhibition gallop on Saturday at Ruakaka over 1000 metres, with the well performed Group 2 winner Amarula, was the final green light for trainer Stephen McKee.
“The track was slow, so worse than Passing Shot likes, but his work was very good. He’s ready to race and will kick off his Melbourne campaign next Saturday the 20th of August at Moonee Valley in the Listed Carlyon Plate over 1000 metres, which is worth A$120,000.”
There are plenty of options for him in Melbourne with suitable races every fortnight and Stephen is confident he will be competitive.
“His first couple of starts will give us a feel for where he is at and we are mindful that he needed a couple of runs at the start of last season before he really got into stride. We have got him up earlier this year and his blinkers will be put on from race one.”
Says Racing Manager Albert Bosma, “It’s exciting times for the Go Racing Ace Syndicate. There is a lot of money to be won if he measures up and his target race will be the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400 metres, at Caulfield, which is worth $500,000.”
