Our second runner is Lucky Country in The Group 3 Wellington Stakes over 1600 metres for three-year-olds. She was 7th in The Group 1, One Thousand Guineas when making a lot of ground off a moderate pace. She had a freshen up and then raced at Rotorua on the 7th of January in a Rating 75 1400 metres, where she was last off a slow pace, looped the widest of all runners and finished strongly for 2nd. She has come through that race well and the 1600 metres second up suits. She has the outside barrier again of 13, so has been given no favours here. Jason Waddell rides and she is quality filly that should suit Trentham.
Our third stakes runner is Savour The Moment in The Listed Anniversary Handicap over 1600 metres. He was an unlucky 7th in The Coupland’s Mile when coming from 2nd last at the 400 metres to storm home and be beaten less than two lengths. He had a brief freshen up and returned to Waikato to win a Rating 85 mile carrying 59 kilos, in 1.34.93, a very game performance.
He has barrier 1 on Saturday and drops to 55 kilos, which will be a big assist. Jason Waddell rides.
