Green and Gold!

True to her Australian heritage, it was green (for ivy) and gold (for winning) all the way for Ivy’s Gold at Te Rapa in the rating 65 1400 metres.

Fresh up, she jumped well but was caught four wide all the way. In a gutsy effort she just didn’t give up and beat Keep on Coming, who was leading at the 200 metres, by half a head.

“We were confident of a competitive showing after her recent win at the trials at Avondale. Blinkers and a tongue-tie have certainly helped switch her back on after a decent break,” says Marsh Racing stable foreman Rhys Mildon.

With 1400 metres well short of her best, she will definitely improve for the run and will next race at Te Rapa on the 16th of July in a rating 75, 1600 metres. Matthew Cameron will hopefully be back in the saddle.

It’s a busy week for Go Racing with The Mello Way (Thewayyouare x Bella Dormello), Top Actress (O’Reilly x Shemiyra) and Mihaia trailling at Ellerslie today.

Nota Bene races Wednesday in Matamata, Frazzle on Thursday in a Pearl Bonus race in Wanganui where she has drawn nicely with barrier 9, Elusive Boxers and Pinzanzo compete at Ashburton on Friday and, on Saturday, Taipa Tiger is at Awapuni and Sharp Elle takes them on at Ruakaka.
