Quick as a fox

Quick as a fox

To supplement the Karaka draft of yearlings bought earlier in the year, Albert was keen to see what was on offer across the ditch at the Sydney Easter Yearling Sale. He was not disappointed.

Go Racing purchased a Foxwedge x Bardego colt for A$150,000.

Foxwedge was a very fast Group 1 winner and is a son of Fastnet Rock. His dam Bardego was a Group 3 and Listed winner as a two-year-old and has already left the stakes winner Delago Bolt, a half-brother to our colt, who won over A$600,000. Bardego is out of the stakes-placed Devils Gold who won up to 1800 metres.

It’s easy to see why Albert was taken with this athletic colt – he’s an impressive physical specimen.

Trainer Stephen Marsh agrees, “He’s a ready-made racehorse. He will certainly get up and run as a two year old. In fact he looks like he could do it now.”

Foxwedge’s oldest progeny are two-year-olds and are already showing their speed. This colt’s full sister Volpe Veloce was a very impressive winner on debut in the two-year-old race at Matamata on the 30th of March.

Foxwedge is currently first equal on the New Zealand first season sires premiership for Individual winners and second on the Australian first season sires premiership for the same reason.
