There were no tears in the clinical win from race favourite No More Tears in the $70,000 Group Three sprint for three-year-olds, the Mr Tiz Trophy, on Saturday.
The classy Darci Brahma x Ocean of Tears filly made short work of the field to keep the silverware safely in Go Racing’s trophy cabinet for the second year running. Twelve months ago it was Passing Shot as the favourite bringing home the title.
Says Racing Manager Albert Bosma, “It’s a good habit to be getting into!”
Trainer Stephen Marsh has a great recent track record with his age group fillies and has a high opinion of No More Tears.
“She’s a classy filly with a fair bit of ability and can perform on any track conditions.”
It was the third stakes win (the first on debut) of her eight-start career all with Michael Coleman on board who shares Marsh’s views. “She’s a quality animal,” he said. “Stephen had her in perfect condition and she was too good for them. I think she’ll be really competitive in Australia.”
Which is exactly where Marsh is aiming her for. “Ideally we’d like to take her to Australia now. There is a Group Three fillies 1200 metres on April 2, and then there’s a suitable race for her every fortnight.”
No More Tears was bought by Go Racing for $75,000 at the 2014 Select Sale at Karaka and earned $126,000 in prize-money.
