The Karaka yearling sales start on Monday and it is a very exciting time of year. We love it.
We bought 10 yearlings last year and in that season had 6 individual stakes performers and 36 winners. Less than half way through this season we have had 4 individual stakes performers and 18 winners, so are on target to beat last year’s record and maintain our excellent strike rate.
Unlike other purchasers, we don’t focus on buying massive numbers of horses, but rather concentrate on buying quality and I don’t believe anyone else can match our success for the numbers we buy.
Matt and I have been busy inspecting yearlings with our trainers and are in the process of drawing up shortlists of the horses we wish to buy. We will again be looking to buy a range of yearlings from the Premier and Select sales, from early two-year-olds that can win the Karaka Million to three-year-old Guineas horses and staying types that can win Oaks, Derbies and Cup races. We will also be buying horses for Singapore and Australia.
We will be buying both colts and fillies and will buy the horses over a wide price range.
After each day of the sales I will send out an update with details on the horses we have purchased and give you the first opportunity to take shares in them. I will also send out a report giving a rundown of the sales each day and my opinion on the strength of the market, what is fashionable and the quality of the horses being sold.
Last year six of the horses we purchased were sold out during sales week, so if you are interested, it is important to receive the updates.
If you would like to be on this priority list and receive my reports, please e-mail me back and I will place you on it. The first update will come out next Tuesday, the morning after the first day of the Premier Sale.
