Go Racing’s black beauty from Lisa Latta’s Awapuni stable has won on debut on Thursday over 1200 metres on her home course.
Black Sav (Savabeel x Showileo) stormed home over the top of stable mate Princess Belle, looking very green but getting the job done from a wide draw and wider run.
Says Racing Manager Albert Bosma, “The majority of winners at the meeting were on the speed. The fact that she went against the grain and came from behind makes the win even more impressive.”
Trainer Lisa Latta is happy to be patient with the filly who is bred to stay. “I initially thought the distance would be too short for her. She will definitely be a future Oaks-type horse. In the short term we may possibly look at the Eulogy Stakes but we aren’t in any rush and will look after her.”
