Waiting Breaks Her Drought

Waiting was a decisive winner at Greymouth’s Cup meeting on Saturday in the Rating 65 1500 metres. She was given a freshen after the New Zealand Cup Carnival and returned to racing by running an unlucky 3rd at Timaru on the 28th of December over 1600 metres.

That cleaned her up nicely and the drop back in distance was no problem as she settled in midfield, improved three wide from the 700 metres and was too strong in the straight. The slow 8 track condition helped as she likes the sting out of the track and she showed she is versatile and can race competitively anywhere from 1500 to 2200 metres.

She has shown a preference for racing in a fresh state and the first three or four runs of a campaign seem to be her best. She will next race at Canterbury in a Rating 65 1600 metres on the 26th of January and any rain around will assist her.
