Go Racing has cemented its commitment to the industry it loves by renewing its sponsorship of the Group II Avondale Gold Cup at Ellerslie for a further two years.
Sponsors since 2014, Go Racing Manager Albert Bosma sees the race as a key fixture on the racing calendar and a great indicator of future Group 1 success. “Previous winners have included Sangster and Whoshotthebarman who won the Auckland Cup and went on to run 3rd in last year’s Melbourne Cup.”
Last year the Avondale Cup winner Farm Boy didn’t contest the Auckland Cup but third place getter Rock Diva won the Group 1 feature and second place getter King Kamada ran second in the Auckland Cup. Farm Boy went on to run third in the Group 1 weight for age New Zealand Stakes at his next start.
Says Albert “It’s an increasingly important race as its form holds true. The good horses keep winning.”
Albert adds, “The Avondale Cup has also become a favourite on the Go Racing hosting calendar. It is a great day enjoyed by our owners and supporters.”
In the past year Go Racing has also sponsored on Group 1 Telegraph Day at Trentham and with the Waikato Racing and Otaki-Maori Racing Clubs as well.
Says Albert, “We see it as important to give back and our sponsorship programme reflects that. We are pleased to partner with the Auckland Racing Club for the next two years.”
