Headline act North and South lines up as favourite in a competitive field for the Winter Cup on the opening day. “North and South will have a jumpout over 1200 metres at Levin tomorrow following the unfortunate cancellation of her lead up run in the Opunake Cup last Saturday. We are still confident of a good performance in the Cup as she is so clean winded,” says Albert.
Lisa Latta trained stable mates Our Gazza and Authentic Paddy pose the biggest threats and are well supported in early markets for the race.
Taipa Tiger will be Go Racing’s second runner at the meeting and face a double header with races on the first and last day of the Carnival.
“It is just such a good opportunity for these winter gallopers to capitalise on the carnival programme and back up in quick succession,” Albert says “He finished a strong second in Oamaru on Sunday which gives us a lot of optimism.”
“The Carnival will be a great opportunity to get the new racing season off to the best possible start for the Go Racing team.”
