Two debutants at Avondale tomorrow for Go Racing

Nota Bene debuts at Avondale on Wednesday in the Juvenile 800 metres.

An imported filly, Nota Bene (Beneteau x Time to Move) was bought at the Gold Coast sale last year prior to the Beneteau progeny having raced. Says Racing Manager Albert Bosma “Beneteau has been an absolute sensation as a sire. From only two very small crops prior to his death, he is currently the leading first-season sire in Australia.”

Nota Bene is a half-sister to stakes placed Make your Move, making her quite a valuable filly in her own right. Having had one trial for a win she has shown excellent ability with the second placed horse in that trial, Night Fever, running second on debut on Saturday at Trentham.

Albert says, “She is talented but has drawn wide over 800 metres so it is going to be quite difficult for her. And while we have confidence in her ability, the other question is how she will handle the wet track.”

Also debuting tomorrow is Will Ferret (Castledale x Island Time). Will Ferret is a half-brother to North and South and Mahaia, both good winter gallopers. Says Albert, “He will benefit from race experience but has drawn barrier 1 which worries us on the wet track.”

Both horses are trained by Stephen Marsh.
