Mum's the word for Ruud Awakening

The sale of Karaka Million winner Ruud Awakening brings The Go Racing Almighty Dawn Syndicate full circle.

Champion two-year-old Ruud Awakening, winner of the Karaka Million, Group 1 Diamond Stakes and New Zealand Champion Two Year Old of the 2012/2013 season, was sold at the Magic Million broodmare sale on the Gold Coast for A$650,000.

Racing Manager Albert Bosma said it was a bitter sweet moment, “Ruudie has given us and her owners such a thrilling ride. I had a tear in my eye when she sold.”

But Bosma was happy with the sale. “It was the right decision to put her to auction and let the market decide her value. It was a strong sale with significant demand for the top lots.”

Ruud Awakening was bought by Owen Glenn and it is believed she will go to stallion Sebring this year and Criterion next year in his first season at stud.

Says Albert, “It was the right decision to sell as she had some niggling issues that meant she failed to fire as a three and four-year-old. We are confident she will make a great mum. We will certainly be watching her progeny with great interest. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to own one of her foals in the future.”

Go Racing races two other fillies by Bernardini – two year old Ruud Not Too (Bernadini x Too Many Diamonds) who is very talented;  and a yearling out of Rasana, purchased on the Gold Coast last week in which shares will be offered shortly.
