Singapore fling

Go Racing has just returned from a successful Singapore tour with 17 owners.

Says tour leader Albert Bosma, “We’ve been developing the Singapore market for our New Zealand owners for a while now. The racing up there is very professional with incredible prize money. It was great for some of our favourite owners to experience that first hand.”

Leading ex-pat trainer in Singapore, Bruce Marsh, has been part of the Go Racing “stable” for several years now. According to Bosma, “Bruce and his wife Kay have a winning formula and are fantastic hosts to match.”

Owners attended races at Kranji on Friday and Sunday nights and toured Marsh’s impressive stable and the track. But it was another cultural experience that will linger with many owners – the Singapore crab.

Says Albert, “Our owners had the time of their lives. They have a real appetite for racing  (and the crab!) in Singapore and we have a pipeline of horses to send there.”

A highlight for Go Racing Manager Matt Allnutt was meeting one of his heroes – the world’s leading jockey Joe Moreira – who launced his career in Singapore. Matt was thrilled to look like a mountain of a man beside the petite Moreira.
