Big Saturday for Go Racing runners

Big Saturday for Go Racing runners

It is a big weekend for Go Racing owners with three runners at Trentham’s Premier meeting, two of them in Group 1 races.

We don’t buy a lot of horses, so we are very proud of our record in Group 1 races, with both of tomorrows runners proven at the elite level.

Prince Mambo is in fact the only proven Group 1 runner in the AIB Insurance Levin Classic and he goes into the race under the radar. His is well and his form is excellent. Two starts ago he ran 3rd in the Group 1 Two Thousand Guineas after slipping at the start and costing himself many lengths. He then had a spell and resumed with an unlucky 5th against the open class older horses, where a gap closed for him at the 200 metres. He had to switch across heels and he hit the line strongly, only beaten 1.5 lengths in a fast time. If the gap hadn’t closed, he may well be going into this race a last start winner.

Group 1 winner Ruud Awakening races in the Group 1 Telegraph Handicap after a very good last start 6th, beaten just over a length in The Group 1 Railway Handicap. In an on pace race she made excellent ground and is peaking for her run this weekend. She is a forgotten runner but has the class to win.

Our final runner Charlestown races in the Rating 85 1400 metres and backs up from a last start win in a Premier Rating 75 1400 metres at Awapuni. He won on this day last year and is horse that loves firm tracks. He gets in on a comfortable weight of 55.5 kilos and has a very good sprint when saved for the last run.
