“Everyone at Go Racing is excited to see the first of our ‘2014 babies’ run but I do have a particular soft spot for Whatastar.”
The Captain Rio filly out of Marlanda Star will race at Riccarton on Saturday over 800 metres in a race worth $17,500.
Says Matt, “She won a jump out two weeks ago before heading down south. We really like her – she’s a good mover and a really sensible filly but she is still a baby and you just don’t know what they will do on debut so we’ll go into the race with an open mind.”
The filly is also up against a more experienced field with runner who have won previous races.
“It’s hard because at this stage it’s all about experience, but she’s certainly precocious enough to run well.”
Lisa Latta trains and Kylie Williams will be on board. If she performs well Whatastar will next race in the listed $50,000 Welcome Stakes at Riccarton on 15 November.
