We were concerned before the race about the rain that had fallen as he has shown himself to be a good track horse that is better when the track is hard. The track was a dead 4, but chipping out and this is a surface he has not enjoyed previously. Ridden well by in form apprentice Michael McNab, he settled 5th and was ridden patiently before coming between runners at the top of the straight to maintain a long run and win by a long neck.
It was a stayers run and indicates where his future lies, which is over ground as a 4yo. He is in terrific shape and has come through the race well, so will go for a rare hat-trick of wins at his home course of Awapuni in a rating 75 1600 metres on the 19th of May. He will only run if the track is a dead 4 or better and we will be watching the weather closely.
