Go Racing syndicate members once again celebrated success on both sides of the Tasman on Saturday.

Quick Preview got the ball rolling in New Zealand, providing a milestone win for trainer Kylie Grass as her first winner since joining the Go Racing training ranks and her first winner at Ellerslie, in the Carlton Events 1600.

“It was a very pleasing result for Kylie, to win a $60,000 race on Derby Day at Ellerslie” Go Racing, Racing Manager, Matt Allnutt said. “She was quite jubilant after the race and understandably so, it was great to see her celebrate the success.”

Ridden by Andrew Calder, Quick Preview got away to a good start from barrier six, settling in the one-one position, he was perfectly poised to run down the leaders to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

The Go Racing As Per Syndicate-raced six-year-old may have extended his racing career with the win.

“It was good to see him return to form,” Matt said. “He showed us plenty early on in his career, but he had been a bit disappointing lately and he was down to his last couple of chances to show us he wanted to be there and he showed what he is capable when he has his mind on the job.”

Later in Queensland, Stardome was successful in the Cascade Benchmark 90 Handicap (2000m) at the Toowoomba meeting which was transferred from the flood effected Doomben racecourse.

Ridden forward by Samantha Collett, Stardome, got across to sit parked from the widest barrier of 10, the pair got cover at the 1400m mark, before coming three-wide at the 600m mark to claim a very comfortable two-and-a-half length victory.

It was the six-year-old son of Savabeel’s seventh race win at the fifth start of his current campaign.

“He’s been running really well and it was a good strong win,” said Matt. “He never looked in doubt once he hit the front in the home straight.

“He was up for a long-time last campaign so he was given a good spell and he’s come back in good order and I don’t see any reason why he can’t continue on his winning way.

“He’s already won over A$400,000 so it just goes to show what you can earn racing over there.”

Meanwhile, Matt confirmed that exciting three-year-old filly Miss Ella will now run in the Gr.1 Wellington Seamarket Levin Classic (1600m) rather than the Gr.1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai New Zealand Oaks (2400m) on March 19, following her run for ninth in yesterday’s Gr.3 McKee Family Sunline Vase (2100m), stating she will be better suited to the mile.

The Go Racing team have had a busy week at Karaka selecting their next crop of yearlings to be syndicated.

“We’ve been super impressed by the quality of the yearlings at Karaka this year there’s some very nice horses here, both the colts and fillies and it is quite noticeable with the later sale date how forward they are in their development and condition,” Matt said.
