Long may Magic March continue

Go Racing are looking to back up one of our most successful weekends of racing with another! Long may Magic March continue.

Savabeel siblings – Group 1 winner Hasahalo and full brother Hasabro – both compete at Tauranga on Saturday – see full story here.

Further south at Riccarton talented and progressive three-year-old filly Severine is in race 2 the 3YO 1400m worth $25,000.

Trainer Andrew Carston feels she is building nicely. “Last start Severine ran fourth in a listed race and was hard finishing over 1400 metres. She has continued to improve since then and will be competitive. Oaks winning jockey Lisa Allpress was going to ride but has been suspended so we are pleased to have Robbie Hannam in the saddle from a handy barrier 3.”

Severine’s campaign will culminate in two target races – the Listed NZB Airfeight Stakes for three-year-old fillies over mile in two weeks’ time at Riccarton, followed by the Listed Warstep Stakes over 2000 metres worth $50,000.

Carston also has last start winner Titanium Jack competing in race 4 – a rating 65 1400 metres worth $22,500. “The plan is to get back and run on from the outside barrier draw. He’s only gotten better since his last start win, but he’ll need to be as he is going up in grade.”

We round out the weekend with two-year-old Bella Sorella debuting at Tauherenikau. Oaks winning trainer (did we mention we won the Oaks?) Lisa Latta says, “She’s shown good ability at the jump outs, but it’s just a starting point for her and she’ll learn a lot from it.”
