A Mighty Good Chance

Exciting Central Districts galloper Mighty Solomon gets his shot at the big time tomorrow when he takes his place in the $200,000 Group 1 Harcourts Thorndon Mile at Trentham .

The four-year-old son of Darci Brahma affectionately known as Troy has been in scintillating form this campaign and after registering four wins from his last five starts, he has quickly become one of the most talked about gallopers in the country. He goes into the race on the back of a perfect preparation and according to trainer Lisa Latta, things couldn’t have worked out any better. “We are not surprised about the form he has been in throughout this campaign. I have always had a big opinion of this horse and gelding him at the end of his three-year-old season has been the making of him. His work this week has been up there with the best of his career and I couldn’t be happier with him going into the race”.

Racing Manager Matt Allnutt is also happy with the build-up Mighty Solomon has had but he points out that the conditions of this year’s race are not totally favourable for him. “He goes into the race this year with 55kg but if the race was run under the same conditions as last year he would only have to carry 52kg. It will be tough for him up against proven Group 1 horses but to be the best, you have to beat the best and we wouldn’t swap him for any other horse in the race. He is our third runner in a Group 1 race in the last week and this is a record we are extremely proud of”.

In form jockey Kelly Myers will do the riding and the two get on well having won their last two starts together. The race is at 3.53pm on Saturday and we wish connections the best of luck.
