Tarzino x Japonica Yearling Colt
A real athlete by a champion race horse

This horse is a complete athlete and we just had to buy him. The stock of TARZINO have really impressed us, and after buying one last year that we love, we wanted to secure another good colt by him. TARZINO was an exceptional racehorse and the champion 3YO colt in Australia. A dual Group 1 winner of the VRC Derby and Rosehill Guineas, arguably his best performance was in the Group 1 Australian Guineas over 1600 metres when he had to come from last, had a chequered run and was beaten a nose. He had an exceptional turn of foot.

We have followed this colt closely. We saw him at Haunui Farm in early December, then again on the 10th of January and finally at the sales. Each time we saw him we were struck by his athleticism and balance and how he had thrived, maturing at each occasion. He has put on 60 kilos since November and grown two hands and he now stands 15’1, so is developing into a gorgeous race horse.

He is out of the young ENCOSTA DE LAGO mare, JAPONICA, which should be a fabulous cross as ENCOSTA DE LAGO is a champion broodmare sire. His dam is a half-sister to the Group 3 and multiple stakes placed FASTNET ROCK colt Main Dane. There is excellent Australian speed in this family, with him closely related to champion 3YO filly and three-time Group 1 winner SERENADE ROSE and the outstanding current multiple Group 1 winner TREKKING.

Physically he is very hard to fault and is so athletic that he can race as a two-year-old before tackling the classic three-year-old Guineas and Derby races. He will race in Australia under the tutelage of Chris Waller, where he will have every opportunity and race for enormous prizemoney, with races a minimum of $125,000 on a Saturday in Sydney.
