Savour The Moment Gets Deserved Success

Savour the Moment scored a deserved success at Waikato on Saturday, winning the Pathways To New Zealand Rating 85 1600 metres for the second year running. He drew the same barrier the previous year as well, and had the same jockey, Jason Waddell, so it was a pleasant Groundhog Day for all! It was a very big effort as he carried 59 kilos and ran 1.34.93, a fast time.

A very good horse, ‘Stanley’ had been unlucky in his previous two starts when getting held up, including in The Group 2 Coupland’s Mile, when he came from 2nd last at the 400 metres to run 7th, beaten 1.9 lengths.

He is now likely to run in The Listed Anniversary Handicap at Trentham on the 19th of January and then the Group 1 Thorndon Mile the following Saturday the 26th. Both races are over 1600 metres.
